A Beautiful Surrey Wedding – The area around where Heidi and Tim had their wedding reception in Surrey was heavily affected by the recent floodings in the UK. In fact, on my journey from the Beulah Family Church in Thornton Heath to the reception at the Surrey National Golf Club I was diverted three times due to floods and fallen trees. Luckily the reception wasn’t affected, apart from the grass being very very wet. In fact the weather on the wedding day was actually surprisingly nice, if not a little windy.
Heidi first got in touch with me about a year ago after seeing the photos I took at their friends wedding back in November 2011. It wasn’t until early October before we actually met for an engagement shoot around the Old Royal Navy College in Greenwich.
Surrounded by many of their family and friends I think it’s safe to say that Heidi and Tim had the wedding day they had hoped for.
We are totally delighted with these pictures – thank you so much! We had a ‘quick’ look through them and they totally capture our wedding day!
Thanks so much once again,
Heidi and Tim

Tim and I met whilst working at a Salvation Army Christian summer camp near Boston, Massachusetts in the summer of 2011. We got on well, but wondered if it was just a summer romance. However I was moving to London (where Tim lived) on our return to England to start law school, so we thought we would just see how things went…the rest is history.
Tim asked me to marry him at Christmas time in 2012 and we decided to marry a year or so later. As Tim is a teacher, we settled for the start of the February half term holiday having quickly realised that the following Christmas was already booked up. It was such a treat for everyone to have something exciting to attend in the bleakest month of the year!
We chose to marry at the church we attend together, Beulah Family Church in Thornton Heath, Croydon. Our reception was held at Surrey National Golf Club. The golf club was perfect, it held over 200 guests and had a modern barn feel about it, beautiful grounds and big fire places, perfect for a winter wedding.
I did a lot of research into photographers. My main concern was whether they would be able to shoot fantastic pictures in low level lighting, which would be a likely scenario at a winter wedding. Iain had photographed my cousins’ wedding a couple of years previously and came recommended. His blog showcased a number of winter weddings and I could see that he could successfully handle adverse weather and lighting conditions! After a few emails with Iain, we decided to book him as our photographer.
We first met Iain in September 2012 for an engagement shoot in Greenwich park, which was great practice and enabled us to feel more relaxed having our photos taken on the wedding day. He produced some lovely images with the Old Royal Naval College in the background. I would thoroughly recommend an engagement shoot prior to your big day.
In the lead up to our wedding I was very excited and surprisingly calm. We had spent months planning and I couldn’t wait to see the fruit of our labour. At the end of the day, marriage is about two people committing the rest of their lives to each other in the sight of God, not whether all your 200 plus lace covered jam jars have been arranged as you’d envisaged!
Our wedding day really was the best day of our lives. Everything went to plan and it was such a joy to celebrate our lifelong commitment with all of our family and friends. [/content_box]
