I’ve been excited about writing this blog post ever since meeting up with Lj and Jamie a few months ago in London. I like to think that we all got on from the start and by the time the wedding came I felt like I knew them both very well. It’s really important to me not to be a stranger on the day. If you shoot predominantly in a reportage style it doesn’t matter as much, but with my fashion/dramatic images I need to connect with the couple. They need to trust me which I think Lj and Jamie did.

We’ve all been chatting on Facebook for sometime and I knew how excited Lj was about her day, I could see her literally counting down the sleeps. The photos for Lj and Jamie, I think it’s safe to say, was one of the most important parts of the day… They’re exactly my kind of bride and groom and in fact I now only accept commissions from couples who are enthusiastic about the photos.

Lj and Jamie had chosen Fawsley Hall as their wedding venue, which is a short drive from their family home. The actual wedding ceremony was held in the cute  Holy Cross Church in Pattishall, Northamptonshire. My second shooter (John Erskine from John Erskine Photography and I drove up the night before and stayed in the lovely Coach House B&B which is run by the very friendly Phil & Jane Parris. Amazing accommodation topped off with a  full English to die for…. thank you.

Fawsley Hall is a beautiful country house set within 2000 acres of formal gardens. It has quite a bit of history to it, in fact it was built for entertaining the likes of Henry VIII & Elizabeth I, impressive. The wedding was set in the Georgian Knightley Court which is the magnificent Tudor House. Chic and stylish this Grade 1 listed building stands alone from the main house, but literally right next door.

My Assistant (Bernard Pretorius from Bernard Pretorius Photography) joined John and I the next day in the morning. As Bernard arrived we bumped into Lj’s make up artist, Sarah Yeo from Sarah Yeo Weddings. It was a pleasure working alongside another fellow wedding professional. Lj and Jamie were absolutely blessed with gorgeous weather from start to finish which allowed for plenty of outdoor relaxing for the guests.

The whole day was extremely special and a wedding that I will remember for a long time.

I’d like thank both John and Bernard for all their help on the day… I’d also like to say a special thanks to Carol and Boz (brides parents for their lovely message I received a few days after the wedding:

Iain Just to say an enormous thank you for last Saturday 3rd May. It was our pleasure to meet you and your support crew. You were just so easy to have around, so relaxed and calm and professional. We look forward to seeing the photo’s – but to say its not always just about the end result but the process by which you arrive there. LJ and Jamie enjoyed their day so very much. Our best wishes Carol and Boz Boswell

Finally, I would like to say a mahoosive thank you to Lj and Jamie for asking me to photograph their wedding at Fawsley Hall. It was a real honour to be there with you both and to capture the day in my own way.
