“Married at the Ritz Hotel”, it has a nice ring to it and not many can say that they have tied the knot at this incredible hotel. I have considerable emotional attachment to the Ritz and so am always delighted when asked to photograph a wedding or event there. Its nice to be branded as ‘London Wedding Photographer’ and even nicer to be called ‘The Ritz Hotel Wedding Photographer’.When Krystee’s parents emailed me earlier this year to enquire about my availability I was delighted to be available.

I got some early photos of the cake, which was made by award winning cake maker Rosalind Miller Cakes, it looked terrific in the William Kent room. By the time I went to meet Krystee bridal prep was in full swing.  I was greeted by the bridesmaid all of whom were very happy in front of the camera.

My style of wedding photography is very much to be in the action, getting natural photos of reactions from family and friends. I am very passionate about light, and either using the best light available or creating my own light. For me what makes a great wedding photo is the mix of beautiful light whilst keeping the ambient light that gives the image depth. As 95% of the wedding photos I deliver to my couples are in fact in a documentary wedding photographer style I am there to tell the story of the day. The wedding photographer is a significant part of the wedding day which is why the portraits I do for my couples are that important.

Documenting Krystee and Lewis’s wedding was great fun and although we didn’t have as much time as normal, as the ceremony was late in the day, I still managed to get some cool photos of them down in the Ritz Casino. We also got some photos of the last remaining daylight outside in the Ritz’s own garden.

I think the effort that went into Krystee and Lewis’s wedding at the Ritz was astounding. So much thought, care and attention went in to making this a perfect wedding day.

Thanks to all of the staff at the Ritz for making feel so welcome, as always. Also thanks to my two new Gomes Photography crew, Leo Dolan and Konrad Mroczek for helping out on the day.

Finally thanks to Krystee and Lewis for asking me to photograph their wedding at the Ritz Hotel.

Here’s their story:
